Grandma: 30 Day of Thankful

30DYellow200pxToday I’m remembering my Grandma.

Barbara Laycock 1941

Grandma Grandad at L L wedding

Grandma left this world all too soon and I can’t believe that she has been gone 20 years. I only knew her for 12 years, but she made a big impact on my life.

I remember her patience, unpicking and redoing my knitting and needlework so I wouldn’t be discouraged. I remember she loved gadgets and was the first to have a telephone, microwave and various other things. Not only having them but using them to the full extent. I know she’d be rocking a smart phone and tablet if she was still around. I remember her and Grandad sharing secrets with each other in Morse code once spelling things out didn’t hinder our little ears from knowing surprises. I remember countless hours of reading Anne of Green Gables to me and the fun us cousins had as she taught us all manner of games.

She loved and cared for all of us and is remembered fondly.

I am so thankful to have known her.
